Sodalite history dates back to ancient civilizations, where this deep blue gemstone was admired not only for its captivating color but also for its perceived spiritual properties. Although officially identified in 1811 in Greenland, sodalite had been unknowingly used centuries earlier by indigenous cultures in the Americas for ornamental and ceremonial purposes. It gained widespread popularity in the late 19th century when large deposits were discovered in Ontario, Canada—so much so that it became known as the "Princess Blue" stone after it charmed royalty during a visit.
